This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are eager learners with great curious and creative minds. My students come from diverse cultural backgrounds and they all receive free lunch and breakfast.

Many of my students do not have the resources at home to work online, and more than 90 percent of them are English language learners.

Many depend on worksheet packages and readers provided for them to read at home. Despite these bumps on the road they are eager to learn and fill themselves with new knowledge.

My Project

My students have limited access to books at home. I want to provide my students with books that have characters that reflect them and their loved ones. It is important that they have access to books to start building their love of reading and to have books that teach about their experiences and social justice.

I intentionally picked books with characters that represent them and their experience; the chosen books reflect our Black students, our Latinx students, our Muslim students, and more.

They allow us to have conversations about race, cultural practices, and much more which will help us all learn and grow.
