Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Have you ever experienced that feeling of dread when asked to write? Many children with special needs struggle when given written tasks. My students' needs range from visual support on paper to tools that help their hands grasp the pencil correctly. Please help my students become successful writers.
I teach students with various disabilities and needs.
The majority of them avoid written tasks because of sensory issues or motor/visual processing deficits. They orally compose creative stories and compositions, but often struggle when asked to write their ideas on paper. My students attend a large school consisting of second language learners from low-income families.
My Project
I am requesting highlighted paper/composition books, writing guides, slant boards, and a vibrating pencil attachment. I want to provide my students with opportunities to be successful in writing and meet grade level standards. These tools will help them form a correct pencil grasp in addition to visually writing sentences on lined paper. My students will improve fine motor skills with practice. Using these tools will improve their chances for success and positively impact their attitudes towards writing. Given these resources, they can become more independent writers.
I am passionate about writing and expressing my ideas and thoughts!
I want my students to experience how powerful writing can be. They are so creative and orally expressive. These tools will help them develop fine motor skills and become successful and independent writers. We Love Writing!
