My students need 5 different types of instruments from South America, Polynesia, India and the Caribbean, including cymbals and rainsticks.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Tickel's classroom raised $493
This project is fully funded
Help us travel around the world without ever leaving the classroom! I am the music teacher at a rural K-5 school in Florida.
Many of my students have never been outside of our county and have never met students that are not just like them. They are curious about children in other countries, what they eat, how they dress, and most importantly, what kind of music they listen to.
This project will introduce my students to music of other countries and help to expand their view of the world. We need instruments and cultural dance items from many different countries and cultures (i.e. drums, rainstick, finger cymbals, etc.). With these instruments, we will "travel" to countries like Brazil, India, the Caribbean, and New Zealand to make music from that country and/or culture. We will then compare and contrast the music to that of other countries and to music that we know in the United States. This also serves to fulfill the Music Education Standard for "understanding music in relation to history and culture" and "listening to, analyzing and describing music.
Your help will make it possible for my students to hear and make music from places they may never have even heard of, and expand their understanding of the world beyond our little town.
