About My Students

This year we expanded student clubs so they could spend more time in school, building friendships and skills in a safe environment. Sequan and Francis are freshman who are eager to talk your ear off about their favorite manga and debate the finer points of anime plotting. These young students have brought an enthusiasm and sense of purpose to the group. Their goal is to make this club into a fun experience for all, and reach out to other members of the school community to participate in that joy. To do that they need resources to build the club, and their vision for engaging the school in anime and manga.

My students are working to spearhead our Anime and Manga club. One of the hardest parts is trying to bring in new members and provide engaging content and material. We rely on patchy WiFi and a minimal number of manga books that I brought in. However this is not enough for my students to explore their passions. That is why we need these new manga and anime titles to help them pursue their passions. The manga books will allow them to broaden their tastes and horizons, as well as build literacy skills. Manga is a great way for students to get involved in reading, because they do not see it as "academic," they just love the characters and the stories. Additionally, my students will become leaders in their school community, by going out to promote their new club and resources. They will be able to make connections with their peers and build new relationships.

In Their Own Words

The anime club is forced to use the internet to try to watch anime during club. This can lead to problems with Wi-Fi, buffering, and other video problems. If we receive these new anime and manga books, we would be able to have club without worrying about these problems. We want to also give other people outside of our club the chance to experience what we like. To do that, we want to have a party where we showcase one of the movies. That way, we can attract new students and build a bigger and better club.

We will be able to make flyers to promote our new club and the library that we will have with these donations. We will be able to make announcements and encourage new people to come to our club. Then we can show them the library, and let them check out manga that they like. Also, we will have big event parties, where we will be able to show other students anime so they can become interested in anime and manga and want to join our club. We want everyone to have fun and to be excited about anime like we are.

This is important to us because it helps bring students together. It can help us to communicate and understand what we and other student like about anime and entertainment. Also, we would be able to enjoy entertainment that we love, solving the evil that plagues schools: boredom. This club and this project allow for student to unwind, relax and make new friends.
