My Students

My students are active, engaged fourth and fifth graders. We have just come back to school in a hybrid model, after having had online school for over a year.

It was a struggle to get some students to read books online, but not in class!

Some of the kiddos have already read three books since we've been back, so we are running out of books. They have an appetite for series books, no matter their reading level. We are working to build up our collection of series books to help kiddos strengthen their reading skills.

My Project

My fourth and fifth graders love animals, so they really enjoy reading books with animals as main characters. They can't get enough of Dogman, Kate Dicamillo's books, and the Warriors series.

Help bring more fun and amazing animal stories to a wonderful group of students.

We read The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane during distance learning and the kiddos loved it. I want to be able to bring more of Kate Dicamillo's amazing stories to my students. The animals in her stories bring out the best in the human characters.

I've also included several Dogman books in my project because even the most reluctant readers love to read Dogman!
