My Students
We love animals! Fortunately for my second graders, much of their science standards are devoted to just such a study. Animal science books tend to be written well over the standard second grade reading level, however. These books on CD will help us learn about our subject and grow as readers.
My students are the picture of America.
They come from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds and vastly varied socioeconomic lifestyles. Each child comes with their own life experiences, strengths, and weaknesses. Every child wants to feel safe and successful. My students are curious, humorous, and zealous. They enjoy learning with their eyes, ears, and hands. As a classroom family, students work together, learn from each other, and strive for personal goals of personal best.
My Project
We are requesting several animal science books on CD which we plan to use in our class listening center. These books will aid my students in their study of animals which is a major part of our state's science standards for second grade. They will grant students the opportunity to study, apply, and respond to new knowledge by making literature about the exciting world of animals accessible to all. As an added bonus, students will be able to increase their reading fluency, comprehension, and interest as they follow along with these remarkably well-written texts by renowned author, Gail Gibbons.
