My Project
My students are passionate about animals and have been captivated by the small introduction we've had in our classroom. Expanding our collection of classroom animals will not only inspire research and writing, but also provide a therapeutic way for students to calm themselves during moments of stress or anxiety. These animals will serve as a valuable resource, not just for my students, but for others in our school who visit for sensory breaks or as a reward.
We would love to introduce more species of animals into our learning space, allowing students to experience hands-on interactions, observation, and care.
By setting up separate aquaponic enclosures, students will have the opportunity to study how different species adapt to their environments. They will learn about various fish species and then share their knowledge with other classrooms—enhancing both their academic growth and social-emotional well-being.
Additionally, these animals will be incorporated into one of our three classroom aquaponic systems. As part of our studies, we are exploring how environmental differences—such as temperature—affect nutrient transmission. Having these live animals as part of our ecosystem will offer a unique, real-world learning experience that deepens their understanding of science and environmental studies.
Your support will help us create these enriching experiences and inspire a love of learning in our students!
