Animals All Around

My students need a hands-on activity tub, leveled readers, animal learning center, and a ladybug, ant, and butterfly habitat for an interdisciplinary unit on animals!

My Students

Help us have an interdisciplinary, hands-on unit on animals. Help us learn and work like real scientists.

My students attend a high poverty Title 1 school.

My students are incredibly bright and talented. They love to learn new things, explore, and experiment. They love to think and work like real scientists. For many of my students, science is their favorite subject of the day. However, we do not have many hands-on science materials.

My Project

Every year in first grade we do an interdisciplinary unit about animals. Through science, literacy, and math, we study everything we can about animals. However, we do not have any hands-on materials to use to learn about animals. We mostly use books and pictures. Having hands-on materials to teach this unit would allow my students to truly connect what they learn in this unit to real life. I am requesting a butterfly garden, ladybug land, and activity tubs. The students will be able to experience first hand what they have read.

This project will help inspire a new generation of scientists.

Please help me give my students a truly hands-on, real life scientific experience. This will be a unit my students never forget.
