My Students

We have started a school year like none before. While we are face-to-face, there are still so many unanswered questions. For now, I must focus on the most important issues. My 6- and 7-year-old students need stability and support. They need to be assured that they are safe and will be well taken care of. They need to have the freedom to experience essential learning during this critical development period with minimal obstacles and distractions.

As we continue learning face-to-face, my students are blossoming with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning!

We are excited to dive in to our upcoming science animal research project, which is an annual highlight for our first graders.

First grade students learn best with exploration and experiential learning. Using a tablet to develop basic research skills, we will be taking the first steps toward digital literacy. So many apps and websites are available for science research and other purposes for the primary classroom. Adding this final set of tablets to our classroom will bring more learning alive!

My Project

Every year, our first graders dive in to an exciting animal research project in the spring. This project is the highlight of our year together! Our first step is teaching the students how to do online research, using a variety of different websites and apps. Since most of our school Chromebooks are being used by the older students in their hybrid school program, we don't have the usual technology available to begin this project. My dream is that these last four tablets will allow my entire class to have equal access to all of the incredible information available online to complete their very first scientific research project!
