This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My first graders are full of energy, imagination, and endless curiosity. They ask the best questions and find joy in the smallest discoveries. What I love most is their excitement for learning—how they light up when they hear an animal sound or spot something new in a picture book.

They learn best when they can see, touch, and hear what we're talking about, and they’re always eager to explore the world around them.

Each item in this project is chosen to help them connect learning with wonder:

Toy animals will let students interact with the lesson in a playful, hands-on way. They’ll use them to “match” sounds to animals, sparking conversations and building listening and reasoning skills.

Books about animal sounds will support both reading and science skills, helping students learn how different animals use sound to communicate, protect themselves, and connect with each other.

Headphones will give each child a chance to listen closely to real animal recordings. This helps them focus and enjoy quiet, meaningful learning moments—even in a busy classroom.

These resources will help bring our study of sound and animals to life. With your support, we’ll turn our classroom into a little sound lab, where curiosity, science, and creativity all come together.
