This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are bright and curious 8th-graders in an arts and science magnet. We procured six large standing work tables to aid in their creative endeavors and keep the blood flowing during our block periods, but the stools that came with the table have not lasted as long. The backs tend to break off and the screws fall out, leaving wobbly chairs.

That is why we need the "just right" chair, a long-lasting, wooden chair with a cushion.

The students will be able to sit much more comfortably during our reading time. During problem-solving experiences, they gather around each other, half in chairs and half standing, but the chairs are often broken, so they have to use chairs that are too short for the tables.

I hope these chairs will create that warm-inviting space so when the students enter, they are encouraged to pull up a chair and get to work! The warmth of the wood will not only enhance our fairy lights during reading and writing time but will last a long time, especially in our public schools.
