This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love to roll play and imagine. We have built paper bag puppets to aid in story telling, having a real puppet theater and puppets would excite them even more. Telling their story using the manipulation of a puppet would entice their creativity to expand and tell more stories.

My students are excitable and eager to learn.

They enjoy games and imaginative play. Their creative seeds need only to be watered for them to bloom and grow. Which as their teacher I do daily. My students come from varied backgrounds. Some knowing little to no English, but all enjoy the classroom and the learning fun we share.

My Project

My students will use the puppets and theater to share stories they have written or share something they want to say. They will also be able to retell stories we have read in class, or they read at home. They can do readers theater with a friend and rehearse plays to share with an audience. Students use puppets to practice their reading skills, sight words, or word families. A puppet is a friend that is always available to learn with them.

I have seen the shy students be more willing to explore their voice through the use of a puppet.

Since they have less fear of sharing out loud if they are pretending to be someone or something else.
