Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Fourth graders are the best to teach! Why? They are learning and growing academically, socially and emotionally. My students love working in partners to build new skills. They help one another and challenge each other to do better. Next year, I will be teaching two classes of Reading and Social Studies. We will start the year working to be the best readers we can.

I teach in a diverse, urban neighborhood school where many students are not able to practice skills at home.

Many parents want to help their student, but do not know how or have the means to provide additional resources. My school is a Title I school and nearly every student receives free breakfast and lunch daily. To create the best learning environment for my students, it is essential to get new and engaging supplies into their hands.

My Project

Help my students become more independent learners by gifting us materials for our anchor charts. The anchor charts provide a reference for students as we learn new material. I know that several students have really benefitted by seeing materials displayed throughout the classroom. We use the materials to have group discussions and partner activities. Since we have started using more group discussions and partner activities, I have noticed more students participating and engaging with learning and their peers.

While these materials do not seem like a lot, they help my classroom to run more smoothly and independently.

I appreciate your support for my students as they learn and grow.
