Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students deserve the opportunity to explore and learn in a hands-on environment. Our school serves a large population of migrant agricultural families. Many of these parents did not finish high school. Surrounding communities include the "haves". We have not.
Our students come from an assortment of backgrounds, but almost all are under-served.
The community is made up of migrant field workers and blue-collar service industry workers. Our kids are hard working and motivated, but need the opportunities and resources to succeed.
My Project
I am requesting frogs for my two Anatomy classes. As this point, we have a set of classroom textbooks and little else. I would like to provide the kids with a hands-on lab and dissection. This would provide a completely new and important dimension to the classroom.
This project will support the learning and investigation of human anatomy.
The response to a real dissection is amazing - this type of investigation cannot be replicated through a textbook... only in action. Thank you!
