This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Most of my students have never really looked at art pieces analytically.
My students live in a high poverty area near an artist's community but have little experience interacting in the arts that are in their neighborhood.
They need different kinds of experiences in class that will help them learn about all that there is in their community.
My Project
My students will use the magnifying glasses to look closely at pieces of art that we will analyze, just like we do with traditional text. Students will begin to develop a critical eye when looking at art and be able to teach this to other students by way of displays in the hall way.
This may be the one time they are introduced at how to look at art as text and be able to really understand and discuss what they are thinking.
They will also have the ability to teach others through hallway presentations. It can begin to develop a love of the arts that might have laid dormant.
