An Smarter Amazon Classroom Needed

My students need two Amazon shows, stands, cameras, and screen protectors, smart plugs and an Amazon Echo to make a smarter classroom. We also need two iPad with cases to extend our reading workstation.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The best and easiest way to describe my students is that they are survivors. My class is a dual language kindergarten classroom, and I am charged with teaching them Spanish, language arts, and math. I will have two classes, each consisting of 21 highly motivated and fully charged five-year-olds. My children and their families have been hit hard by Hurricane Harvey.

Many of my families had to be evacuated, and our school sustained a lot of damage.

We were teaching at a relocation site with the basics for 4 months. We cannot ask our parents for any type of supply after what they went through.

My kids are happy to be back at their school, but we need some materials to replace what we lost during the hurricane. We hope these items would help my students adjust to yet another move and huge change in their little lives.

My Project

We want to have the first smart classroom in the school. We want smart plugs to turn on and turn off the different devices in the classroom and economize our energy. We want the different Amazon shows and Echo to coordinate the different classrooms and establish an intercom system.

We want to teach the kids how to talk to Alexa and answer all of their questions.

We want the cameras to protect our technology when we are absent and at night and more importantly to set up recording times to share lessons or special occasions with the parents. We also want the screen protectors, a charging base, and stands to protect the equipment from rough hands.

The Echo buttons will allow my students to play games with the Amazon show and Amazon Echo. We would also like two Ipads with cases and screen protectors to extend our listening to books workstation. The headphone splitters will allow two students to listen to books at the same time.
