An Overhead Projector: An Essential Factor In Good Teaching
My students need an overhead projector so that I may effectively model worksheets, graphic organizers, and more for them.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Deimel's classroom raised $347

My students need your help- badly. I teach 7th and 8th grade English at a small K-8 elementary school in a high-need inner-city community. While the school staff is great, we just can't get all the materials our kids need from the funding that we get.
I have bright students and I really want to be able to teach them effectively, and a key tool for doing so is being able to model for students how to fill in worksheets, graphic organizers, and take notes. I have attempted to move kids through a guided reading worksheet and students were unable to follow on their worksheets as I merely read questions aloud.
Having an overhead projector would completely alleviate this problem. My students would easily be able to follow where I am on any worksheet or organizer that we are completing together, and this will allow them to learn better to complete their own. Additionally, transparencies are resources that can be used again and again; while I could copy some worksheets or organizers onto chart paper, this would be a serious waste of resources. However, I can't use transparencies until I have a projector to put them on; this one piece of technology would truly revolutionize learning in my classroom.
Your help will ensure that my students receive the best education possible. They are smart kids and I know they will be able to learn everything the state requires (and more!), but they cannot do that without the proper tools. An overhead projector is one tool that is essential to have in an English classroom; with your help, my students can have this tool so that they can become better readers and writers this year.
