This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have two groups of 5th graders who are a very energetic and enthusiastic bunch! They like to learn in different interactive ways. Most of the students in my two classes face different struggles in their home lives and at school. Therefore, the classroom is a place where they can learn in different ways. I try to make learning engaging and interactive to sustain the students' attention.
Since our school community is comprised of many English Language Learners, many of the students in my classroom are still developing their vocabulary in the English language.
With the students help, I want to create a print rich environment to help our ELL's become fluent in English.
My Project
All the communal supplies in our classroom are organized and accessible to the students. We need to make sure they are labeled to build independence before my kids move on to middle school.
Our English Language Learners (ELL's) will also benefit from using the label maker.
They will use the label maker to label different parts of the classroom in English and in Spanish. This will help the ELL's improve their vocabulary. The students will have the opportunity to work in partnerships with fluent students in order to label the different areas and materials in the classroom. This is another interactive learning experience for all the students involved.
