Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
What makes my students special is that they are all unique with individual strengths and challenges. The majority of my students are diagnosed with Autism and many also have ADHD. I service children in a high need area of Fort Myers, Florida.
I am requesting items that will allow me to create a sensory literacy space for my students to use during their most challenging times throughout the day.
The books I’m requesting will help me teach them self regulation skills and how to be kind and helpful. The children being able to rock in the seesaw chair while reading which will allow them to meet their sensory needs while gaining their attention and focus towards the story. The wooden rocking boat, balls and other sensory items will help children meet their proprioceptive needs and or calm in order to regroup for learning to take place.
My goal for this project is to get all requested items in an effort to provide the high need students in my care an irresistible approach to sensory literacy.
