This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember the first time you sat in front of a computer and accessed the Internet? A whole new way to learning opened up before your very eyes. Unfortunately, most of my inner city, underprivileged students have only had limited access to this wondrous learning portal.
All of my students are intelligent, curious, and eager to learn.
They come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. However, because of their economic circumstances, they cannot access the kinds of instructional technological devices that enhance learning. Most of my students do not have computers, and for those few that do, Internet access is unaffordable. The public library in their community has a limited number of computers, at home many of are in disrepair, and those that are not are in constant use. Although our school recently installed a state-of-the-art Wifi network, our outdated classroom computers are not Wifi enabled, and cannot meet the system requirements of the most basic instructional programs.
My Project
To address these technological inequities, and help my students access the innumerable instructional programs and websites available online, I am kindly asking for your help with the purchase of an iPad and Otterbox for our classroom. This Wifi enabled iPad will be used by my students on a rotational basis. With this iPad, my students will be able to visit different reading, language arts, math, and science websites, where they will participate in activities that will enhance their learning. This iPad will also be used to access a recently implemented physical education program adopted by our school district, in which the students view various exercise video to participate in physical activities. Additionally, my students will finally be able to benefit from the many learning software programs we have at our disposal, which to this day remain unusable because of the limitations of our current classroom computers.
I sincerely believe that because of your generosity, my students will finally be given the opportunity to participate in activities that will profoundly impact their ability learn, greatly improve their computer skills, and prepare them for a future in which technology plays an all-encompassing role.
