Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The days of pencil and paper are long gone. Technology is all around us. Unfortunately, a lot of my students do not have access to technology at home. School is the only place where they can surf the web and play games on the computer. Help me fix this problem.

My 2nd and 3rd grade students are eager to learn and they love coming to school.

They are in a 12:1 self-contained Special Education class in a Title I school. My students work hard every day towards achieving the same academic goals as their general education peers. The disabilities of the students in my class include autism, speech and language impairments, and learning disabilities. They have low socioeconomic backgrounds, and their parents can only provide for their basic needs. They do not have access to extras, like iPads and computers.

My Project

I am requesting an iPad and an iPad case because I know that they will allow my students to learn beyond the walls of my classroom. iPads will allow my students to learn from educational literacy, math and science games, and ebooks. The students who struggle with writing will be able to use dictation apps to draft and publish their pieces. My students will be able to access new outlets for learning, and the possibilities would be endless.

This project is important to me because it can change the educational paths of my students.

Allowing them to have this technology will allow me to differentiate activities for every child. They will be able to access things that they would not be able to at home. Knowing that I can provide my students with new experiences makes my work worthwhile.
