it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"We must remember not every child learns the same way. Give students choices & tech is one of them." - Jerry Blumengarten
My students are very curious young learners. They love learning about different people, places, and things. They also love using technology.
All of my 4th Grade kiddos are English language learners in an inner-city, Title I School.
They are curious about the world around them. They love learning, but they lack a lot of the background knowledge and experiences that other children have. Many times I must fill in the gaps in their learning by providing them with images and other information from my laptop or smart phone. It is such a joy to see them build understanding and make connections. Few of my students have access to technology outside of our school. The only technology we have in our classroom is my personal computer. We have a computer lab that we can access for 30 minutes every two weeks. They need access to technology daily.
My Project
With an iPad in the classroom, my students will be able to use age-appropriate online tools & resources to enhance their learning. They will be able to do Internet-based searches about topics of their choice. They will be able to use different applications that are available on the iPad to create multimedia presentations to share with their classmates. They will also learn to evaluate different media sources to determine their usefulness. In addition, the will be able to use many of the kid friendly apps that are available on to practice and improve basic skills in reading and math.
This iPad will benefit my students greatly.
It will give them access to technology that they do not have now. It will give them the opportunity to create multimedia projects. This exposure to technology will give my students fundamental skills that they will take with them into the future. My hope is that through the use of technology, my kiddos' self-motivation to learn will be enhanced.
