An Inviting Place to Learn and Connect!

Help me give my students a comfortable spot of their own during whole group activities. The storage carts will be used at each team table to store necessary items in that the teams will use for the day.

My Project

Learning is taking place throughout the kindergarten classroom. My students spend most of their time on the group carpet or at their team tables. Our school is a Title 1 school that houses a diverse group of students. There is not a lot of storage space for student's item because they do not have a personal desk to use; they use team tables. During whole group learning, they sit on the floor in front of the white board. I would love to have a carpet for them to sit on. With a comfortable place to sit during whole group activities, students will be engaged and have a sense of belonging. It is extremely important to me to ensure that every child feels like they belong and have a space for all of their belongings. The rolling carts will house their personal belongings and items they will need throughout the day.

Having a sense of belonging is important to help students learn and grow.

Personal space promotes emotional well-being and facilitates communications and relationships for students. Children at this age are learning self regulation techniques and it is very important to help children develop these by providing them with a space for their belongings and a space for team building activities. Forming healthy relationships with other classmates and teachers are a big step in the learning process that takes place throughout kindergarten and their future as life long learners.
