The sophomores of our community are the perfect target market for this project! They are in dire need of strengths coaching, life skills, and financial literacy! Sophomore year is a big one; typically students turn 16 and get a license! With one year of high school under their belt, they are starting to be more aware of the world ahead. They are working, looking forward to their future, starting to take on financial responsibilities, and developing their strengths. If you ask them what their skills and/or interests are, the majority are not able to answer. Some sophomores have taken personal finance, but most have had no financial education apart from what they have learned at home.
Sophomores are moldable; and we want to give them researched-based, reputable tools to help them succeed!
My Project
Educational Service Unit #17 and local business teachers are working together to host an event this spring. On March 25, 2020, sophomores from Cody-Kilgore, Valentine, Thedford, Ainsworth, Rock County, and Keya Paha County Schools will be coming together for an event to shape their future. The students will work through a budgeting activity, meet with a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach to examine their strengths, and work through life skill activities. This will be a day that will encourage our local sophomores to add a few tools to their toolbox!
These books and assessments will enable 150 area students to come together and receive local, certified CliftonStrengths training that will uniquely empower them for life.
