Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

One of the biggest goals of this project is to make the classroom environment more friendly for my kids. I want them to see themselves in the materials we read, the manipulatives and sensory items in the classroom, and in the decorations all around them. I was able to get myself most of the way there on my own but I need a little bit more help to reach that finish line! Last year was when I taught as a student teacher but now it's time for me to have a more personal touch and show them where fun and interaction can intertwine!

Books - These books will show different aspects of ASD and how we navigate and understand the world with them.

The books I have chosen will also teach different boundaries to the children through examples that they can understand.

Sensory and Manipulatives - These will be a hands on experience for the students. The Sensory toys will be used for their calming corner and given to the students during sensory breaks throughout the day. The manipulatives will be used in lessons to help showcase learning from different angles.

Decorations - A classroom shouldn't be a blank wall and I want my students to feel welcome when they come in. These decorations will help the students feel at home and will create a calming environment and corner.
