This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a Level I school, with 656 elementary students from Pre-K through 8th grade. 48.8% of those students come from low-income households, 19.2% of the students are diverse learners, and 13.3% have limited English skills. Our classroom is comprised of pre-kindergarten students in a multi-age setting.

With the shift to remote learning due to the pandemic, I have been working hard in ensuring that I continue the connection I have with my students through pre-recorded videos.

My students have been watching our lessons through videos taken and edited from my phone. These videos include our morning meeting, activities, mini-lessons, and read-aloud!

Although this has been working well, I wanted to make the experience better for them, and also easier for me through the use of a digital camera.

My Project

In order to adapt to the temporary closing of our school, our Pre-K team had been thinking of ways in which we could still provide an enriching learning experience for the students.

We realized that the best way to ensure engagement with the children for remote learning is when we model our lessons just like how we would in the classroom!

This becomes interactive as the children will follow our lessons, through the guidance of their parents in a fun way! This method had been received well by our families, however I do want to make it a better experience through a high quality camera instead of my phone camera.
