This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our high school does not have a cadet program and we are in a low income community. Funds to create a color guard are not available since the district has made many budget cuts. None of our sporting events have had flag bearers during the National Anthem and our coaches along with many of our teachers believe that it is important to teach National pride and customs to our students. I am a Marine Corps veteran and a Special Education teacher at our school and have been teaching a squad of students how to march, and be in a flag detail to present our National and state flags. Unfortunately, the funds to properly uniform our student’s aren’t available and our football season is fast approaching. Monetary donations will help me purchase these items for our students and also provide them with school and national pride. Please help us put our Color Guard together. Thank you!
