Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in the far southeast area of Chicago. An area of the city that most people don't know about or forget about. Our school is overflowing with wonderful children eager to learn. And the population continues to grow as new families move into the community.
My Project
Our school offers a nice science curriculum that meets the standards for learning but it focuses heavily on claims and evidence and reading of informational text which is important. It lacks what students crave, excitement, more experiments, hands-on, and gamification learning opportunities.
Generation Genius explains concepts in an exciting and easy-to-understand way and includes games.
Generation Genius will allow me to present short videos showing relatable children exploring science concepts in a way that is easy to understand. Then it follows up with a game that students can play solo, or in teams to start a friendly class competition, as well as hands-on experiments that can be performed at home for extra credit or in class to enrich our units of study.
Generation Genius works out great for both in-person learning and virtual, should our class need to make unexpected changes.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
