My Students
I work in a New York City Title I middle school where every student receives free lunch. It is a great school where some students travel from far away just to be able to attend. My students are special education students, most of whom are English Language Learners. They are really great kids who love to learn. They are diverse in their backgrounds as well as their interests, and one of the biggest challenges they have in Language Arts is finding a book that's just right for them.

These books and supplies will help foster reading among my students from various backgrounds. It is important for my students to feel safe and comfortable so they can prosper and grow in today's world.
Currently, at my school, we focus on culture and identity throughout many of our units.
Teaching in a diverse school allows us to read and have conversations about important issues and ideas. These books will directly contribute towards that. My wonderful students currently look forward to reading every day and I want to nurture that love!
