The students I teach come from an area that over the years has been a high poverty, high crime area. It is my goal to change that stigma and help give them the best of every opportunity that I can whether it be by providing basics, or new opportunities.
The students I teach are eager to learn, and soak up new information like sponges.
All 20 of them keep me on my toes at all parts of the day. I wouldn't trade my time with them for anything!
My Project
Books are something we never have enough of. Almost daily I hear students talking about the desire for more books to read at school and home, or the desire to have a book that someone else has.
It's hard to keep books of high interest, and in a reading level range where they are accessible to those that need them.
This selection of books was specially chosen to meet these needs.
Books of high interest such as Cam Jansen, chapter books, nonfiction books, they fly off my shelves. I would love to be able to offer more of a variety to the students I have, and introduce them to some new topics and characters as well.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
