Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our young students come from low social economic background. They are coming to the first year of school. Their language and cognitive skills need to be stimulated. A rich classroom environment is the only way to help these young children to succeed. We need materials appropriate to their age.

These are young children between the ages of 3 and 4.

They come to school full of energy and eager to explore and discover the world around them. They are attending a public school which is located in a very low social economic neighborhood. These children come from very low income Spanish families. The school is the main resource for these children to develop their academic growth. These preschoolers encounter many challenges such as the development of the new language and oral language development. The school has to provide them with age appropriate materials. However, the school is going through a lot of budget deficits and it is very difficult to provide these children with materials that promote a rich learning environment.

My Project

These materials will help me create a rich environment that will stimulate their learning. Pre-K children learn best when they have materials that challenge them and target their interests. With these materials, I will be able to focus on their interests such as movement and play. I will incorporate these materials to create a balanced instruction where children will be able to learn and purposeful play. These materials will help my preschoolers to explore and discover. Also, I will be able to help them in their language development using these classroom materials. Some of these materials will help my students interact with the school environment. These materials will help them play with other classmates. This is very important for academic success,

My young students need materials to actively play.

These items will help them with their motor skills. Balancing games for indoor as well as outdoor are greatly needed. They also need games to help them with their balance and coordination. Therefore, items such as balance boards, beanbag game, and mat activity games are necessary. My students lack resources to help them learn about themselves and their community. Dramatic play items such as make believe house items are needed.
