Help me give my students a learning experience on ecosystems. Students will create a closed bottle ecosystem with guppies, water plants such as the elodea, and gravel. They will learn about biotic and abiotic factors in ecosystems.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My seventh grade class has been learning about ecosystems. In this project, I would like each of my students to create a closed bottle ecosystem. Each group of four students will design their own ecosystem which will consist of live guppies, plants, gravel, algae, and snails. Students will conduct measurements of their plants and fish and observe their closed bottle ecosystem over a period of three weeks.
The donations to this project will provide a valuable, hands-on learning experience about ecosystems for my students.
While students can read and watch videos about ecosystem interactions, there is nothing like actually experiencing this with your own eyes.
