My Students

To learn to read is to light a fire; every syllable that is spelled out is a spark. —Victor Hugo My students are fired up to take their reading to the next level but we have nowhere to practice our skills! We need an easel to make learning hands-on and meaningful!

In my classroom there are 17 eager first graders.

They are curious, active, and always keep me on my toes! Our school qualifies as Title 1 with an astounding 95% poverty rate. Many students come to school carrying more baggage than just their backpacks. Despite their hurdles, these first graders are committed and excited every single day. They love learning and always give me 110%.

My Project

During shared reading and word work my students need the opportunity to explore books and words in a hands-on way. Using big books, anchor charts, and pocket charts will give us these opportunities but as of right now I have no space in my classroom to display these things! An easel would provide a central location for my students to learn, find, and recall these crucial literacy lessons!

Reading is more than a subject in school, it is a necessity.

While using this easel I will empower and motivate my young scholars to take their reading to the next level and in return create lifelong readers!
