Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach a wonderful group of 25 first graders in a public charter school in DC. Our kids are so eager to learn. Our school is really special because we believe that children from all socioeconomic statuses can get an excellent education under the same roof. Our school is 50% African American, 30% Hispanic, and 20% white. Our kids are constantly being exposed to new cultures and experiences.

Right now, my kids are located in a classroom that used to house older children. The main white board is hung too high for the children to see when they are sitting on the carpet.

An easel would allow the children to access the teachers' writing and to get a chance to write on the board themselves. This will keep them more engaged in the lessons we have.

You can help these amazing kids be able to access reading and writing more easily and to stay engaged in our learning for longer times. Thank you in advance!
