This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

First of all we would like to say thank you for looking at our project. My students are active five year old ready to get their hands on learning. They are eager to learn but lack the necessary supplies. School starts in September and parents struggle to purchase supplies or even uniforms. 

My students are hungry for knowledge.

This being most of their first experience in school. They yearn for fast-paced, hands-on learning experience. Hands-on is the way to go! My students will meet and surpass the common core state standards, and will step up to 1st grade.

My students consist of both low income, general and special education, kindergartners. They are like little sponges that are ready to absorb what you expose them to.

My Project

As teachers, we are always looking to the future and getting ready for a new school year. As I reflect on the approach of a wonderful year end I begin to plan for the upcoming year. Many students come to school with little to no supplies.

We need these supplies to have a successful school year.

I like to have game show competitions and students display answers in a dry erase board and hold them up. This is a fast way to monitor students' understanding of a concept. During whole group, small group and individual instruction we use crayons, markers and glue on a daily basis. Pencils are always needed as is a basic necessity in a school. Having a sharpener in the classroom will be very helpful in making sure that pencils are sharpened at the end of each day to be ready for the next day of instruction. Pencils are something that we always run very low in class (somehow pencils always disappear). This upcoming year I'm excited to have a big focus on writing. That's why I would love for all my students to be ready the first day of school so we can use our interacting journal. The story journals will be very helpful for the students to practice their writing and draw a picture to match. As we know drawing is one of the first forms of writing. 

Also, I want to improve the organization of our classroom with the seat sacks for students to keep some supplies at their chairs for quick access. A well-organized classroom creates a safe environment.
