My students need 20 headphones to use for computers during independent computer enrichment time. This will help to keep the distractions of classroom chatter low and allows every student to focus on the learning task at hand.

My Students
We currently have a total of 25 students in our classroom. Our student body consists of students with disabilities, as well as, general education students.
Most of our students receive free lunch and many come from families that struggle financially.
Our school is located in an urban setting where many of the children have witnessed violence, drug use and in some cases, even murder.
Despite all that they go through and experience on a daily basis, our students remain hopeful. They come to school every day with the intent on succeeding in life and they operate with purpose and determination. The Tenacious Learning Lizards never give up!
My Project
My students require many opportunities to practice reading strategies in order to improve their reading abilities.
In my classroom, we practice decoding and reading comprehension strategies specifically designed to address their deficiencies.
My students learn how to create pictures in their mind while reading. The use of the computers helps them to create visuals as they read, providing a deeper level of understanding the text.
These headphones will be used to allow the students to practice their reading skills on the computers without the distraction of other learning activities that may be happening at the same time. Hence, it paves the way for a productive learning experience.
