My Students

My students need shut out distractions and look cool while doing it.

My students speak 12 languages.

They are tall and short and play football, basketball and love music. My students struggle to fit in yet need to stand out. They are all nationalities, races and religions. But they all share two things in common: They crave information and come from families who struggle to put food on the table. That their home lives are less than ideal should not impede their need to learn and their desire to be informed.

My Project

My students are some of the most hardworking students in the state, but their challenges both inside and outside of school inhibit their learning. Our district has undertaken a venture to boost student's learning with an interactive learning software. The problem? The sound of learning is distracting. In order for students to effectively use the program, students are required to listen to lessons. The school currently has headphones that students can borrow, but they are few and most of my middle school students are embarrassed by the clunky and disheveled headphones we offer. A lot of our students cannot afford headphones which leaves some of them without anything to direct their focus on learning.

Your donation will allow my students to focus on their lessons and only on their lessons without being distracted by outside noise and self-image.

As a result, I can take these lessons and apply the results to classroom instruction, changing the future of each student.
