I couldn't ask for a more motivated group of students. They are the kids who spend their lunch period and free periods in the art room working on extra projects and furthering their art techniques. Their raw talent, combined with their work ethic leads to some fantastic projects. Unfortunately, our supply budget is so low we can't buy much besides pencils and paper. Help stock our supply closet so we can explore a wide variety of art materials and techniques.
My Project
I want to be able to provide my drawing and painting II students with an authentic painting experience using canvas and other high quality supplies. This is an advanced visual arts course; however, our current budget does not allow for high school quality materials, and this, unfortunately, detracts from both student engagement and the quality of work students are able to produce.
Painting on canvas and watercolor paper will help my students feel like real artists.
Most have never had the opportunity to paint on canvas. They spend hours creating incredible works of art and providing them with these resources will help to make them feel like their work is valued. As several of my students hope to apply to collegiate art programs, it's important to use materials of high enough quality that they are able to get impressive results for the portfolio pieces they will be presenting to potential colleges.
