Help me give my students items to help grow our sculpture and architecture center. We are also excited to offer more sensory items at our 'calming corner'.
The students I teach live in a low-income urban setting. I teach at 2 different elementary schools that are located in the heart of Massachusetts and I personally educates approximately 700 students a year for Art Education.
While a lot of work is being done within the city to improve the lives of our growing minds, our public schools are suffering from a lack of funding.
I want to do whatever I can to provide a quality education to these children so they can better themselves and grow as learners.
My Project
My students have been working in art centers for the past two years. This year, our goal will be to open an architecture center. My students enjoy learning about different careers in art and they were excited to learn about architecture.
In addition to the general education classrooms I teach, I also work with a high population of special education students.
These students need special supports both in and outside of their classroom. My goal is to make them feel comfortable outside their classroom and continue to make them feel excited about coming to art! The sensory items, floor tiles and chair foot covers will continue to make my art room a safe place for those students who may have sensory and processing issues.
