The students in my classroom come from low-income families. Several of my students have behavioral and learning disabilities. It amazes me how they come into the classroom everyday with smiles on their faces and eager to learn, despite the challenges they face. My students enjoy reading, writing and moving to music.
My hope is to provide them with a strong learning environment that supports their growth in the areas of language, literacy, social and emotional development.
I believe every day is a new opportunity to learn and my main goal is to prepare my students to be successful in the rest of their school years and to be life-long learners.
My Project
The students in my classroom come from families who struggle daily with financial issues. As a result, they are less likely to receive the materials they need to help them succeed academically in the twenty- first century. We are hoping to receive two Apple iPads and two iPad cases to enhance learning in our classroom. My students enjoy reciting stories that they have familiarized themselves with. They have a blast singing and dancing with their friends. They also enjoy learning new vocabulary and writing letters to friends and family. My students can use apps such as ABC Tracer and Kidztory, on the tablets during learning center time, to support and encourage them in the areas of language and literacy development. There are also apps that are designed for creating stories, incorporating visuals and audios that the children can produce themselves.
More than half of students from low‑income households
