My Students
My students are an incredible group of energetic First Graders who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our class is composed of eight students, each with unique academic, social, emotional and sensory needs. In order to touch on each student's needs, it is imperative that I construct and tailor individualized lessons/activities.
My students are passionate about technology and learning new things.
With this new iPad, I will be able to assess their reading skills in order to meet their individual academic needs while keeping things fun!
My Project
My students need Ipads so they can independently practice skills that have been previously taught by using specific educational applications. Practicing skills on the iPad is exciting and highly motivating.
Not only will the iPad be helpful to the students, but it will also be helpful to the teachers during assessment time.
Throughout the year, our students are assessed in reading using a program called DIBELS. This program measures student growth from September through June and is used weekly for progress monitoring. Having the iPad will help shorten the assessment time for each student.
Technology keeps children engaged in the learning process. With the help of this iPad, I will be able to teach students technology skills while continuing instruction in all academic subject areas.
