An Apple Today Gives The Teacher An Aid

My students need access to curriculum which I will learn through using a MacBook Pro by developing activities and editing film on Final Cut Pro in order to become certified as an Apple Distinguished Educator.

My Students

We are a Title 1 K-5 elementary school located in the heart of North Portland. We have a unique population of students from over 20 different countries. 100 percent of our students receive free or reduced lunch. We try and address as many needs as possible at our school, but often lack the funding to provide the technological resources we need.

Many of our English Language Learners come to our school with no prior education.

The challenge of learning English and building proficiency in content subjects is overwhelming for many of our students. A lack of prior schooling has many of our refugees completing schoolwork several grade levels behind their peers.

My Project

I need a dependable laptop for professional development, lesson planning and to create Apple based curriculum for my students.

A MacBook Pro is something I can count on when applying to be an Apple Distinguished Educator.

Being an ADE would allow me to share my expertise in using technology to engage our K-5 students in innovative ways with other educators around the district.

I would like to have a Macbook available to complete professional development courses within The Apple Teacher Learning Center. In addition, I will use the MacBook Pro to enhance my lessons with Apple-related technology, to make sure my students are actively engaged and learning!
