My Project
My 8th-grade students are able to make the best out of any situation. In recent years the curriculum has mirrored societies' utilization of the digital age. However, socioeconomic circumstances that are out of the control of my students have virtually left them on the outskirts of this digital movement with no access to online academic content while they are at home. They don't allow these circumstances to hinder their desire to learn.
It is common practice to empower our students but their ability to empower their teachers has created an environment of pure collaboration across generations that benefits the learning environment.
Having an iMac will allow my students to expand their creativity!
They will be able to create projects for the 3-D printer. Students will be able to create and edit music and videos in which they are able to present their understanding of different topics in a multifaceted way. This will allow me to create many different ways to assess their understanding that are outside of the traditional test taking format.
I have been very fortunate to have students that have shown me how the world we share can be very different based on our individual interpretations. Their desire to learn has and will continue to empower me to make their education as unique as they are.
