Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Imagine a room of 6 and 7 year olds eager to learn every single day. They love animals and finding out their habitats. Excitement fills the classroom as they make new connections between what they are learning and the real world. They are scientists, writers, readers, thinkers.
I have two groups of students with various backgrounds and levels.
In total, there are 40 students. We are a Title I school which indicates a high level of free and reduced price lunch statuses. Most students have limited access to technology, especially computers and laptops.
My Project
To improve our interactive lessons, I can create dynamic, interactive lessons to meet the needs of my students wherever I am and take it back into the classroom. The students would be able to create simple to more complex video projects using Apple's iMovie software. In addition, students can use the MacBook during small groups for research, accommodations, movie projects, and more. As budding readers, I envision my students creating video book shares and reviews, paper slide projects, video retells of the stories we are reading together, and so much more. This MacBook will impact current students as well as many future groups for years to come.
This project will make a huge difference to the students and myself as well.
It will give me access to technology outside of the classroom to create high interest lessons for my students. The students will have many opportunities to learn how to use the laptop to create higher order projects. I can also use it for my struggling learners to reinforce the skills they need. It will help all students apply and synthesize what they are learning.
