As a New York City Public School teacher responsible for approximately 350 students each week, I am dedicated to providing a meaningful and engaging educational experience. However, the $250 allocated annually for classroom technology, resources, and supplies is quickly depleted, especially considering the needs of my diverse classroom. This year, I have the exciting opportunity to teach English as a New Language (ENL) through visual arts. In this innovative approach, my students explore famous artworks, engage in discussions, and create their own art inspired by what they have learned. This method not only enhances their language skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking but also fosters their creativity.
I am requesting a MacBook Air laptop, which I would rely on daily to connect to the classroom Smart Board for projecting my lessons since this is crucial for enhancing my students' learning experience.
The device I currently have is extremely slow and quickly running out of memory and storage. I rely on this device not only to project lessons but also because we are a paperless school. It’s essential for lesson planning, professional development, and much more. Please, I desperately need your help to donate and provide a reliable, long-term device that will be an invaluable part of our classroom for years to come.
