Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is Title I with a diverse population of students who are on free or reduced lunch, economically disadvantaged, or at-risk. We have an increased population of international refugees with students who speak at least 19 different languages. My classroom is home to students from America, Central America, South America, Mexico, Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe. So many differences in one classroom provides a rich environment for our students to learn and grow. We are committed to integrating technology in our daily activities.

Hurricane Harvey affected many of the students in my classroom making this past year difficult for all involved.

However, my students continue to push through the challenges and give their personal best every day.

An Apple for a STEAM Theme

My students need an iPad Pro in art classroom to share their ideas and explore STEM and STEAM concepts.

My Project

We need an iPad pro to increase their technological skills, and allow them to explore, learn, and share in an interactive and creative way. I have been fortunate to see how other teachers use an iPad in their classroom to get the students actively involved by providing hands-on lessons that engage all learners. By having an iPad Pro, we can incorporate multimedia in our everyday learning.

There are many amazing STEM apps geared for higher level learning and I want my students, many of whom have no experience with this type of technology, to have access to these types of learning experiences.

By using the iPad Pro, students can showcase their work from the front of the classroom, or I will be able to walk around the room and show live shots of student work as the students are working! Students will be able to explore science and math concepts that connect to their artwork such as creating geometric nets to use in creating a 3-D art piece, or taking a 2-D image they have drawn, such a dot, and making it a 3-D sphere!

This technology will also allow me to engage in real time, and be able to walk around the room while showcasing their work and efforts! What a great way to bolster confidence and engagement!
