This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a Title I school and my students are excited to explore, to learn and to expand and broaden their horizons just to be given the opportunities that other children take for granted.
My students are sons and daughters of first generation immigrants who struggle sometimes to find the right path to success but they put forth maximum effort when given the right motivation.
They are unique in the sense that they are high achievers, despite facing the typical immigrant population challenges. Our overwhelming Hispanic population needs support but, given the right tools, will perform at a high level.
My Project
These 2 Apple iPod Touch devices will be used every day in 3, 4, 5 grade to review material such as vocabulary through Kahoot, Quizizz and Nearpod. It will also make learning more exciting and accountable since my students eagerly look forward with great eagerness and excitement to use these devices to test and survey prior knowledge. Additionally, the programs or apps used assist me in gathering analytics which will track their progress and allow them to practice the lessons at school and at home while they feel they are just playing a game (Quizizz). It is the ultimate in gamification in the classroom with a purpose: vocabulary unit mastery and Reading Comprehension proficiency (literature and science in the target language).
