Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kindergarteners come to school every morning eager to learn and are excited about what their day might bring. Many of my students enter school speaking English as their second language or knowing no English at all.
My students want to be successful in school and enjoy their learning.
For many, this is their first time in school and they love activities that let them use their imagination. They are expected to improve academically, socially, and emotionally throughout their year in kindergarten.
Many of my students come from low income homes and receive free breakfast and lunch. My students love coming to school and I want to supply them with materials that help foster their love of learning.
My Project
By providing my students with access to iPads, they will be able to enhance their literacy and math skills. I have the Osmo gaming systems for my students to practice their skills, but without access to iPads, my students are not able to play the games.
The iPads will allow my students to reinforce the skills they learn in class, without even knowing that they are doing so, through the use of the Osmo gaming systems.
These games reinforce skills such as letter recognition, numbers and counting, and shapes, that are essential for laying the ground work in kindergarten.
The iPads will bring a new dynamic into my classroom. My students will be excited about enhancing their literacy and math skills by using the iPads in school.
