Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in an SPED Inclusion full day program with 18 students from different backgrounds. Half of my class is made up of special needs three and four year-old students. The rest of the class is made up of role models or mentors. Most of our students are second language learners and all are part of the school's free lunch program.
These students come to school eager to learn in a place where they feel safe and part of a school family.
I love to see how they develop and interact with each other as they make new discoveries.
My Project
We are very fortunate that our district provides our students with software programs to enhance the curriculum. Unfortunately, our access to computers is very limited. With all the new tests that students need to take online, my pre-k students have very little access to computer labs at school and we are confined to our classroom. My little ones usually get outdated computers in our classroom and virtually no access to the computer lab.
My SPED students have difficulty handling a mouse on a desktop computer, an iPad would make it possible for those little hands to use a touchscreen and therefore make their handling of the equipment easier.
More than half of students from low‑income households
