Help me give my students a technology update in our school’s library! Access to a new Mac laptop to be used by students who don’t have devices of their own, so they can print or complete their assignments.
It’s hard to believe that the COVID-19 pandemic was five years ago this month. When our schools were forced to shut down, all students received brand new Chromebooks to use for distance learning, which meant we finally had adequate technology for our students. We also had adequate technology in our school library at the time.
However, as COVID funds dried up and disappeared, with the passage of time, our students' devices have not withstood the test of time, and neither has our in-house technology been replenished or upgraded when broken or irreparable.
Replacing and updating technology is a costly endeavor, especially when over 60% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Getting a new laptop for our library would provide more access to reliable technology for our hardworking students. This new laptop can be used for students who don’t currently have personal devices, and help our library program provide much needed access to functioning computers for the students.
